A bullet is designed to kill. The Hemorrhage Prevention Plug is designed to save lives. Both are tools and are a necessity of their making. Per online resources the war on terror has taken 8,900+ American lives. Because the war is ongoing specifics about the wounds individuals incurred and altimetry succumb to are still sensitive. I designed this product as a result of my experiences so let me assure you that the HPP is a needed medical tool!
Statistics to Consider - If we set the conversation of war casualties to the side and look inward every year just over 30,000 people die in the US from gunshot wounds. Every two years more US citizens are killed by gunshot wounds than were lost in the Vietnam War.
Lets look at this another way. With a population of 310 million and an annual death rate of 8.3/1000, we can calculate that 2,573,000 people die in the US each year. Of which 30,000 die of Gun Shots wounds - so if you live in the US you have a 1.166% chance that you will die from a shooting.
The metrics as to how these wounds were incurred are slightly elusive. For instance did the person die from homicides, suicide or a gun related accident? Regardless the need for HPP is not just needed for wartime use but also domestic.
